  • Masters in Systemic Psychotherapy awarded with Distinction, Tavistock and Portman Clinic, University of East London, 2007

Jemma is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and a member of the Association of Family Therapy (AFT) and of EMDR- UK.

Services:

Jemma offers Psychological therapy for all mental health difficulties and, in addition, is able to offer support with the management of chronic pain and with sleep difficulties. Her preferred treatment approaches are Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR); Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT); Systemic Family Therapy. 

Jemma has a special interest in working with the effects of trauma and is able to work both with previous trauma and very recent traumatic experiences. 

Jemma is a trained Systemic Family therapist and offers relationship work to individuals, couples, families, groups and organisations.

Along with Franchesca Saunders, our Advanced Yoga Practitioner, Jemma offers a group aimed at working with the body in recovery from trauma.

Jemma enjoys offering 1-2 session consultation appointments to offer brief advice on improving mental health and wellbeing. 

About Jemma:

Dr Jemma Boyd is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist and qualified Systemic Family Therapist. As a Clinical Psychologist, Jemma is equipped and experienced in treating all mental health difficulties. She has a particular interest in working with the impact of traumatic experiences on people. She spent over 25 years working in the National Health Service (NHS) including over 20 years in Bedfordshire community mental health services working with adults with complex mental health difficulties. 

Jemma draws from a wide range of effective, evidence-based psychological therapy approaches to develop individually tailored treatments to help people achieve more fulfilling lives. These approaches, which are all recommended in NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) government guidelines for the treatment of psychological difficulties, include Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Systemic Family Therapy and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy. Jemma also has training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy skills (DBT skills) and Mentalisation-Based Therapy.
